BIOGRAPHY

Kunchen Dagpo Tashi Namgyal was the first incarnation of the line. He was born in Dagpo, in the U-Tsang region of Tibet, also known as the region of Dharma. Since his early childhood, he had exemplified the wonderful characters of great masters. He would sit on throne and give teachings as his treatment to those most in need, thus clearly displaying the quality of Bodhicitta: awakening mind of enlightenment. He began his studies at the early age of 7 with many great Tibetan masters.
He visited many important institutions, such as Sakya and Sangphu, to receive teachings from great enlightened beings as Kunkhyen Rongton and Ngorchen Dorje Chang, and thus became a living encyclopedia of Tibetan Buddhism. When he was 45, Kunchen Dagpo Tashi Namgyal was appointed as the successor of the great Rongton and enthroned at the Nalanda University in Tibet.
His fame reached great heights. He had a large number of followers distributed all over Tibet, China and Mongolia. Some of them were very well-known masters such as Kunkhyen Sangye Phel, Panchen Shakya Choden and Kunkhyen Gorampa. He contributed to Dharma by composing many excellent texts, which still exist. From 18 up to 61 years of age, he gave two or three teaching sessions daily to help students to deepen their understanding of Dharma, thus facilitating the light of the Buddha’s teaching blazed brilliantly for many years.
At the age of 61, he felt that his responsibilities to the beings of this world had been fulfilled and passed away. It has been mentioned that the exhibition of the qualities during his passing away is considered the second most excellent after the passing of the great Sakya Pandita in Tibet.

Konchok Khenrab Rinpoche was found by the final testament of his predecessor. This third incarnation was born to a father named Sara Sogyam and a mother named Josa Bodhi Lhamo during the Tibetan year of a Sheep in 1955.

Since the young age of 3 and 4, he had proven himself to be the unmistaken reincarnation of his predecessor by telling the names of assistants and students of his former incarnation accurately. He even recognized the robes that were used by his previous incarnations, which made many people show their beliefs in the law of cause and effect. Shortly after being recognized as the reincarnation of the eminent master, he passed away at a very young age in 1963.

Konchok Lodoe Rinpoche was born in 1919, in the fourteenth cycle of the Tibetan calendar in the upper region of Tibet in a place called Nangchen. At a very young age, he began to show the qualities of Bodhisattva. He mastered both old and new Tibetan Tantric studies received from supreme masters, as well as the heart practice of Terchen Ratna Lingpa and Tsangyang Gyatso.
Once when there was a scarcity of philosophical texts to learn in Tibet, from Gechak Monastery, he went to Lhasa and the great Sakya monastery by doing prostrations only. Once, he received a personal meeting with the great Sakya Dagchen, and His Holiness said: “You are the reincarnation of Dagpo Tashi Namgyal so you must travel all over the land for the sake of living beings”. Obeying the words of His Holiness Sakya Dagchen, he returned to his native place after successfully completing his pilgrimage tour of the sacred Kailash Mountain. Then, he committed himself to the meditation of the “Collection of Heart Sadhanas of Terma”. This practice emanated from Ratna Lingpa and Konchok Lodoe Rinpoche had practiced Terma’s heart practice of the Nirmanakaya aspect of Padmasambhava for thirteen years in Raya Retreat Centre.
During his completion of the meditation, he had already recognized the nature of the enlighten path and achieved the stages of bodhisattva-bhumis and thus, he was capable of leading many faithful followers into the path of liberation. In order to display the unchangeable reality of impermanence to the followers, he passed away at the age of 36.

Khentul Konchok Tenzin Rinpoche was born in 1985. From early childhood, he was tender at heart and opposed killing animals as well as other hurting activities. When his mother was pregnant, a well-known fortune teller foretold that this child would be very unique and advised his parents to stay away from unhygienic activities.

In 1995, His Holiness Trulshik Rinpoche recognised him as the reincarnation of Tulku Konchok Khenrab Rinpoche and named him Ngawang Jigdal Choki Gyatso. This was soon confirmed by His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama in his letter of recognition. On November 5th the same year, he was formally welcomed by many senior lamas in Khotsa monastery, and clad in a monk’s robe by Lama Tharpa Lhagon Rinpoche. As an auspicious beginning, Ven Khenpo Pema Khenrab gave clear teachings of Kunsang Lama Shalung, which had a positive impact on him and made him weep instantly. Right after that, he received formal basic Tibetan writing and reading classes, along with many precious initiations including Rinchen Terdzo (the great treasury collection of Terma) from Khenpo Khenrab and Se Tul Rinpoche in Tibet.
